Why Ransomware?
Generally Speaking, someone screwed up.
A successful RansomWare attack requires three steps.
- The attacker penetrates an organizations firewall and other defenses.
- Once inside the network under attack the organizations’ defenses do not detect or prevent the attacker from deploying malware that encrypts all, or a significant number of, documents on the victims systems and servers.
- The organization is unable to restore the affected files from backups.
