Why Ransomware?

Generally Speaking, someone screwed up.

A successful RansomWare attack requires three steps.

1. The attacker penetrates an organizations firewall and other defenses.
2. Once inside the network under attack the organizations’ defenses do not detect or prevent the attacker from deploying malware that encrypts all, or a significant number of, documents on the victims systems and servers.
3. The organization is unable to restore the affected files from backups.
